The listening session will be held at ANSI’s DC office and via Zoom. In-person participation is limited.

ANSI and the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) are co-hosting this listening session to gather input from the private sector on the implementation of the USG NSSCET. Released in May 2023, the strategy outlines U.S. government goals to enhance U.S. engagement in standardization related to critical and emerging technologies. It commits to increasing U.S. government support for the private sector-led standards system, and calls out its alignment with the United States Standards Strategy (USSS).

The listening session will feature three panels, followed by open discussion among attendees:

Panel 1

What are the most important challenges faced by the private sector when participating in standards development activities for CET, and how can these challenges be addressed?

Panel 2

How can government incentivize U.S. stakeholders’ participation in international standards development?

Panel 3

What can the government do to support and advance widely accepted principles for the development of international standards?

“This listening session offers a valuable opportunity for stakeholders across the standardization community to hear insights and provide critical input into the implementation of the USG NSSCET. I encourage all interested parties in the U.S. standardization community to take part,” said ANSI President and CEO Joe Bhatia.

Laurie Locascio, Ph.D., NIST Director and Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology, and Joe Bhatia, ANSI president and CEO, will address attendees in opening remarks.
