Open to U.S.-based individuals with 8 or fewer years of experience in standardization and conformity assessment. Should capacity be an issue, priority will be given to individuals who actively participate in standards development.

Elevate your career at the Emerging Standards Professionals Workshop: Leadership and Engagement in ISO and IEC Activities! Held in conjunction with World Standards Week, this multi-day event will prime emerging standards professionals for success in international standardization, in both IEC and ISO activities. Participants will get to network with industry leaders, gain insights into the standards development and conformity assessment processes, and attend valuable trainings to advance their careers and the work of their organizations. Attendee participation includes admission to attend the U.S. Celebration of World Standard Day networking reception and exhibits on Thursday, November 14. This event is hosted by the USNC Young & Emerging Professionals Committee.

Agenda Overview

  • Day 1 will set the stage for the workshop, providing an introduction to international standardization at ISO and the IEC. You’ll learn from the United States’ foremost leaders on how to become engaged in these activities as well as the value of participation for you and your employer through an information session, career panel, and networking event.

  • Day 2 As the IEC hosts their renowned “Standard in a Day Bootcamp,” this training will provide hands-on experience for attendees to learn how international stakeholders reach a consensus, draft, and finally create an international standard. We’ll also explore how many disparate communities can come together to support greater sustainability worldwide through attendance at WSW’s “Conference on Standards and Sustainability”.

  • Day 3 will allow attendees to explore the flip side of international standardization through our conformity assessment overview and training as well as hear from industry experts on standards’ effects on emerging topics such as: AI, SDGs, gender equity, and much more.

  • World Standards Day: We’ll conclude this 3-day long event by funding participants’ admission cost to attend the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day networking reception and exhibits hosted at the National Housing Center!
